A great anime is made by a great storyline, and Battle Angel proves this fact. The story (however slightly non-original), is pretty darn cool. It begins with a broken down cyborg known as Gally who was found by a great cyberniticcs doctor with a passion for his work. He fixes Gally and she wanders the city watching the people, the crime, and the floating city of Zalem that looms overhead. Everyone longs to get to Zalem, but there is a large sum of money to pay, and you either steal, fight, or collect bounties to get it.
She meets a fan (yes the spinning kind) mechanic / Spine thief, who she almost instantly falls for, and decides after witnessing her savior (the cybernetics doctor), doing his job as a bounty hunter, to become one herself. Armed with a knife, her bare hands, and a metal body, she fights for the money to get her to the floating city of Zalem.
For a bounty hunter, fighting, lots-a-blood movie… it has a pretty sensitive ending that almost made me cry.
